[So Kurt intially wakes up near the southern lake - in an immediate panic at the lack of clothes, even his uniform, or his image inducer. He only sees the book nearby. Curiously, he winds up peering into it and musing into it, unaware that it's recording this snippet.]

Doesn't look at all like the bayou... Where did they go? [He looks down into the book.] And where did this book come from? My name's on it. A gift from the Professor? Something about this book seems really weird... But I should try to find the others first.

[And so... this blue, fuzz demon will be teleporting around in acrid puffs of smoke, trying to stick to treetops and following the river towards the village. Every now and then, he stops just to take another look at the book. There's got to be something he's missing. And are those voices he hears from this weird book?

And as he arrives at the village, he may wind up accidentally teleporting into one of several houses. Something just seems a little off about his power here, you know? Hope this blue demon-looking guy doesn't catch you off-guard, with the dramatic smoke puffs that follow him. He could even wind up in the item or clothing shop before meeting anyone he knows.]

[She slides out of bed and stands up, snapping her fingers to call the ofuda back to her hand]

I did. It's ofuda. I thought you were some sort of evil spirit.

Who are you?

[Because he's obviously a New Feather.]

[He looks down at the paper, still not quite understanding its significance, but the way she was able to draw it in makes him curious about her.]

I guess the good ones don't look like this, eh?

[He thinks this over as he hops down to the floor.]

You can call me Nightcrawler.

[She says it flatly, but shrugs]

Though you never know. Some evil spirits can change shape. But if the magic didn't work...then you can't be.

[She gives him a weak smile and an apologetic bow]

I'm sorry if I hit you, Nightcrawler-san. You can call me Rei.

[He gives a smile back. At least she's honest.]

I really lucked out, then. It's... It's okay. Nice to meet you, Rei. And I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to... teleport there.

It's nice to meet you too.

[She gives him a curious look]

How did you teleport in here, anyway? And...if you don't mind my asking, what are you?

[He sighs and goes on reluctantly.]

I'm a... a mutant. Teleporting's just what I do.

...a mutant? Huh.

[She scratches her chin thoughtfully]

That's new to me. But it's interesting. Is teleporting your only power?

It... is? [Someone not familiar with mutants?] You could say it's my main one. I can do a few others things, like I just did on your wall. [He motions to the part of the wall he was sticking to a little while ago.]

Well, outside of comic books and things, it is.

[She waves a hand and starts walking toward the door. For a boy to be in her room? That's extremely taboo and she doesn't like it.]

If...you don't mind, can we continue this conversation somewhere else?

[If only. Comic book characters seem to get all the glory.]

Yeah, sure. Just point the way.

[She leads him down the hall and into a decent sized living area]

Are you hungry, or thirst? I know it's probably very confusing right now. Have you found your journal yet?

[He looks around sheepishly, not sure if he's supposed to sit or not.]

Ah, a little bit, but it's no matter. I do have my journal, and I've learned a little bit about this place so far. I was just trying to find my friends.

Ahh, well. Here, let me at least give you something. An apology for my hasty actions.

[She gestures to a chair and heads to the fridge, bringing out a bottle of water and a plate of cherry dango]

Who are your friends?

[He sits himself in a chair while she brings over the refreshments.]

You don't have t- Thanks.

Well... I'm not exactly sure who's here and who's not. I heard that Rogue's here. And I think one of instructors might be here, too. I'm not too sure about my other friends.

[Rei sets down the snacks and takes a seat opposite him]

I'm afraid I don't know Rogue, but who else might you be looking for?

[A slight disappointment, although he may have already heard of Rogue's presence through others. He pauses for a moment as he considers.]

Well, out of the people I was with before I came here... There was Scott. He wears a funky visor all the time. And our teachers... uh, Logan and Ororo.
